JAKOB KLEMENCIC

Born 1968 in Ljubljana and still living there. Art historian by profession, Jakob has a nice quiet part-time job as a librarian. He's been drawing comics more or less seriously from 1993 to about 1999 or so; main comic influences during that time were Jordi Bernet, Milton Caniff, later also Blutch and Baudoin. These days, he doesn't read comics much; his favourites authors among those he can read are Ben Katchor, David Collier, Dan Clowes and Chris Ware. He likes old or just outdated architecture and feels most at home on 2nd class trains between the Baltic and Black sea. If he would have to pick up one favourite artist, it would probably be Alfred Kubin. Other sources of inspiration: the world of mental disorders, animal kingdom, stories about Catholic saints, strange rituals and unusual behaviour in general.
